It's continually astounding to me how many people can be so cruel, vindictive, and just downright awful in the comments they post online. The anonymity of the Internet prompts far too many people to write things they would never dream of saying to someone's face. I, for one, can't even begin to fathom how anyone could make a connection between wanting to explore their heritage and racism. There's just such a disconnect there, making it requires a suspension of logic I'm just incapable of imagining. I mean, just because, for example, I want to explore my own <a href="http://www.irishgenealogical.com/irish-ancestors-how-to-meet-them.html"Irish ancestors, does that make me a racist to other cultures? No! It doesn't! Sometimes, I think some of these people who make hateful comments online are simply getting some bizarre pleasure out of being cruel for cruelty's sake. I choose to ignore such people, other than to feel sorry for them, as they're missing out on so much beauty in life by maintaining a negative attitude.

My grandfather and my uncle, both named Captain Al Kelly, were tugboat captains on the NY harbor. I would love to have contact with anyone remembering them or having remembered info regarding working with either of them. Thanks, Gladys

Handcarved headstones are no doubt the best chioce available, all in various types of stone the hand carving adds a certain personal element to the memorial/monument. Personally stonework created using only machines doesnt have the same level of creativlty in my opinion.

Hi all, I am Alvah Clinton Burger's grandaughter. My mother (now deceased) is Muriel Frances Burger, and my uncle, her brother (also now deceased), is Clinton. Norma Burger Adt, Al's sister, was my great Aunt.

I am looking for my grandfather's exact date of birth and death so I can get a headstone made for his grave, which is in Glenwood Cemetary in Binghamton. My grandpa died when I was 1 year old, which would've made his year of death around 1957.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Regina Losinger

You might look at www.davidrumsey.com - It is an online searchable database of cartography. Search: Historic Maps » 21 Ulster, Dutchess counties. by Beers, F. W. (Frederick W.); Watson & Co. (New York, N.Y.) from 1891. It is an atlas that lists the name of land owners. I saw some Winfields in Ulster Park, also a Burger right at the bottom of the page, in Eddyville a "Berger". Also an H. Burger in Athens NY.
